ABC Presented the Concept of the development of the Yerevan's Secondary Education

On December 28th, 2010, Hayk Harutyunyan, the Chairman of Armenian British Connect NGO, presented the Yerevan Secondary School Education Development Concept to Mayor Karen Karapetyan, Deputy Mayor Kamo Areyan and the Yerevan Municipality Head of Educational Department, Gayane Soghomonyan and her staff.

Reflecting the mission and objectives of our organization, the concept's goal is to establish a ground for future reforms that would enable the educational system in Armenia to reach up to the best global standards. This concept represents a step forward in building an educational planning system that would encompass the strategic goals and tactical objectives necessary for RA. The preliminary approval of the concept by the municipality marks a start of a long term cooperation program between the City of Yerevan and Armenian British Connect NGO.

Outlining the crucial role of the mentioned issues during the meetings held in the municipality, Mr. Harutyunyan prioritized the concept development and assured that ABC is sufficiently empowered to assist in every stage of its implementation. The concept was thoroughly studied by the municipality and accepted with minor changes. Both sides agreed in timelines and deliverables of the publication and further processing of the concept implementation.

The past projects and initiatives evidence ABC's devotion and commitment to reform the RA education system and contribute to the sustainable development of varied spheres of RA. The significance of the concept is crucial taking into consideration the bottlenecks in the RA secondary education system which decelerate the reform processes and impede the system efficiency. The concept aims to establish the main directives, superiority and principles in the secondary education development agenda set by the Yerevan Municipality. Among other objectives, it highlights the importance of transparency in Yerevan secondary schools which will be ensured through launching IT solutions for management and monitoring schemes.
